About the place

The tower belonged to a church or monastery built around the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. Many researchers link it to Ecaterina Perian, wife of the ban of Severin, around 1402.

In 1726 Captain Rátz János of Mehadia rebuilt it in Baroque style. A bas-relief of St Nicholas's face is on the west side of the tower. The church is gone, and the tower is seen from outside.

Good to know

  • The tower can only be seen from the outside.
  • Look for the St Nicholas bas-relief on the west face.
  • Pair it with the Dormition church next door.
